Little Valley Farm

Over the holidays I have had a series of showjumping lessons with Mike Lamb (An Eventer) over the 3 lessons I have learnt a lot:
  • To stay off of Georges back, George speeds up and rushes when I 'sit on him' so I need to remember to keep 80% of my weight in my stirrups.
  • Keep my reins long. George tends to over bend and not understand the jump, then refuse if I hold onto his head.
  • Something Mike kept saying to everyone over the 3 days is 'Release over the jump' for everyone else it was at the jump but for me it was 2 strides out.

Little Valley Farm has an AMAZING cross-country course that ranges from Pre-Intro (45cm) to Open (1.05m) So after my lesson was over me and my friends would gallop from field to field jumping as many as possible. Some of them are to big but I can now Jump the 85cm jumps! Here are some picks of me and George on the cross-country course:

Science Fair Sum Up

  1. The First Step of science fair is deciding your topic.  Make sure you choose one you are passionate about and will enjoy doing.
  2. Once you have decided your topic craft your aim. Start with - To investigate- then add what you are investigating.
  3. Next write a background statement, say why you choose the topic (Make sure to elaborate on why).
  4. With your hypothesis make sure you have done research on you subject before jumping to conclusions.
  5. Write a base of a method then CARRY OT THE TESTS. Make sure to take LOTS of photos along the way and confirm your method along the way ( I found this much easier than writing it before.)

The rest to follow in another post......

Horse, Horses and Ponies

Horses are my passion so I thought I could share with you a little about this sport.

First I need to say horse ridding is a sport and is also in the Olympics.

Horses are measured in hands:
My pony stands at 13.2 hands which is roughly 138cm.
The horses at the Olympics are around 16 hands but the smallest is Stroller standing only 14.2 hands. He won a silver medal! ( In 1968)

The highest level you can get to is Grand Prix and in the Grand Prix the jumps measure up to a massive 1.60 meters by 2 meters. The Olympic cross country cross is 5.6km of jumps and water.

Me and George only jump around 80cm but hope to compete at 90 soon, which is were the real competition begans.

Count Out Three

Blogs I visited:

http://zoez2015.edublogs.org/

Zoe wrote a really interesting post about suicide. Although it sounds bad it was informative and interesting.
The mane points she focused on were: Why and What for?

This caught my eye seeing that she put effort in and the end product was amazing. I really liked this post.

Relax

To Relax,
Dont be like this..

Uno is one of my favourite games so I decided to write about it.
There are a few different versions but I play the simplest version:
Players:2 to 6

Objective: To have no cards left
Rules
1: To place a card it has to be the same colour or number. With exeption to the wild cards if you can not go pick up a card.
Wild Card: These are black, the plus 4 gives the player next to you 4 cards and the colourful circle is a change colour to the one you pick.
Plus 2 gives the next player 2 cards and has a certain colour. How ever if the next player also has a plus to they can add it on and make the next person pick up 4.
Stop skips the next persons turn.
Rotate rotates the way the game is played.

How to play:
Shuffle the cards then deal 7 cards each. with the remaining cards place in an upside down pile then turn over one and play!

Our World

It is our job to protect the world. Global warming is a real thing and some people are ignoring it. Every where we are effecting the earth by destroying animals and there habitats so we can build more room for us. But do we really need it? Now days we can build UP using the same amount of resources but less space.

Earth Hour is a program helping save the world. It is a great idea and everyone should pitch in to help the world. Earth Hour made a difference in lots of places. Watch this VIDEO
When: Saturday, March 28 (But I think we should participate all the time.)
Should we participate? Leave your thoughts in a comment.

We should Participate all the time by saving energy
Here are a few things you can do to start saving more energy:
The lights and television use electrical energy, so when you leave the room, shut them off.
During the day, when it is brighter outside, open the curtains and use the sunlight instead of turning on the lights
Don't leave windows or outside doors open when the heat or air conditioning is on. This makes the furnace and AC have to work harder to heat and cool the house.
When you have a sunny day, help hang the clothes outside instead of using the dryer.
Don't leave the water drippingin the faucet.
Turn off the dishwasher right before the drying cycle and let the dishes air dry.
Don't leave the refrigerator door open.Decide what you want BEFORE you open the door.
Instead of cooking, once a week have a sandwich night. Not cooking saves gas and electricity.
Plant trees and shrubs. Deciduous trees (trees that lose their leaves) are best to block the sun in the summer and, when the leaves fall, they let the sun shine through in the winter helping to warm your house.
If you are cold add a layer don't turn the heating on.
